Homeownership Training

Community Housing Initiatives, Inc.'s Homebuyer Education classes cover NeighborWorks America's curriculum "Realizing the American Dream." In this eight-hour course participants will learn all the essential aspects of beginning homeownership including the pros and cons of renting versus owning, steps in the homeownership process, shopping for a house, budgeting and saving, credit, mortgages, close and closing documents, and post-purchase ideas such as home maintenance, finances and community involvement. Upon completion, participants will be fully prepared to look for and obtain a new home. Participants will receive a certificate for completing the course, which is a prerequisite of many first-time homebuyer assistance programs.

The program is not just for beginners, if you need a refresher course on any aspect of the training, I encourage you to sign up. I promise you will not be disappointed. Please sign up today for our next class and begin the Dream!

NEW!

We now offer you the option of receiving your Homebuyer Education certificate online. We have joined E-Home America to offer you the option of completing your first-time homebuyer prerequisite in the convenience of your home and at the pace/schedule you set.

To begin, visit ehomeamerica.org/orglist.php. This option has a $50 registration fee, but you can contact us during the process for further explanation or assistance. Once you have completed the eight-hour online course, we will spend a short time reviewing either on the phone or in person.
